This ain't heaven y'all. We live in a fallen world and sometimes it is hard. Really hard.
Don't worry, I'm not talking to you right now. I am talking to myself. Because sometimes I fool myself into thinking that this should be easy. This trying to do the right thing, be a good person, and have grace and forgiveness for others stuff. This overcoming stuff. This getting through times full of hardship or grief stuff. Because we have all said it one time or another haven't we?
"Why do bad things happen to good people?"
"Why did God let this happen?"
Jesus let's us know ahead of time that it is going to be difficult. But He will be there to pick up the pieces.
Do I blame God or draw closer to God in hard times? Because He wants me to draw closer to Him. Wouldn't I want to run into my dad's arms when things are really bad? Yes! I wouldn't expect my dad to be able to protect me from the world and its hardships my whole life. I can't have that expectation for God either.
There have been some terrible times in my life. I mean terrible. It hasn't been easy to get to where I am today. But I am here. Healthy. Happy. Suburban wife and mom (that part still freaks me out a little). But, I have been hungry. Without shelter. Without love. I have hit rock bottom. I have picked up the pieces a few times over. It took me a few tries to get to where I am today. And I still take a few steps back now and again before recovering and moving forward once more.
Part of dreaming big is perseverance. Part? Most of dreaming big is perseverance.
Hope doesn't disappoint us. God has poured out His love into our hearts. What more do I need to hear? When I feel alone, sad, awkward, filled with regret...God has poured His love into my heart. All I need to do is acknowledge that it is there. My heart is filled with the love of God. No matter how filled with sorrow. Or pain. When trouble comes my way in this world, God has overcome and is here to comfort me and pick up the pieces.

John 16:33
In this world you will have trouble, but take heart! I have overcome the world.

Romans 5:3-5
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
